SERVICE TO HUMANITY
Service To Humanity
Good day
good people of Lagos state, Nigeria
These past few days has revealed to me the extent at which unity and solidarity could help attain heights that seems impossible to climb. I must also commend the unrelenting social media outlets fighting for what is right and just. I celebrate every individual that has impartially, non-emotional driven, one way or the other contributed to every rising controversy that emerged on social media in recent time. You know a little of how much of a great impact your small quota has helped this beautiful nation achieve in this present time of adversary. Great cheers to more achievement to come.
In view of this, permit me to slightly shift your gaze to something worth lending eyes to. The images attached to this post are the present state of street called OLD EWU ROAD at MAFOLUKU-OSHODI, LAGOS, NIGERIA. I stay quite close to this particular street and for a fact, I’ve lived the greater part of my life here in Mafoluku-Oshodi and till this very moment (though I come seldom now). I’m over 20 years of age, so I can attest that this particular road has been in this awful condition for decades’ way more than I can predict how long it’s been like this.
As we all
know that of late, social media has been a ground for the voiceless, so I see
it as a good place to make this call for help on behalf of the residents of the
street in question. It is paramount to note that prior to this post, I no not
if any specific person(s) or board has taken it upon themselves to look into
this present situation and draw the attention of the government to it, nonetheless,
it’s never too much of a work to do till the right government body stretch
forth a helping hand to this community. Some individuals have their livelihood from
this particular road aside just living there while some have both, this shows
how much of a great extent seeing this road getting worse as the years pass by
saddens my heart. This present raining
season has been adding more salt to the wound, you could tell how much of a
hell this place would be for its occupants.
It is
noteworthy that I have no ulterior motive or selfish interest for doing this,
neither is this for some mere clout seeking purpose. The fact the street is not
where I reside should be a more judicious and justifiable reason behind my selfless
concern about the welfare of the affected parties just as a concerned, learned,
selfless and good-hearted citizen would do. I believe everyone reading this
right now possess all of these qualities and many more.
I know
that there are many bad roads in the country and many others in worst conditions
than the afore mentioned, but I implore everyone reading this to help as many
times they can, most importantly sharing on different social media platform what
some residents in this part of Lagos have to deal with on daily basis. With
what social media has helped achieved lately, don’t underestimate the power of
a mere, reposts, share, retweet and in any other way this could get to the
right bodies for immediate and necessary steps be taken to see that this road
is repaired as soon as possible.
I believe
in humanity, I believe in the power of unity, I believe in love… Pass this on
if you also believe in these things.
